Ideas

An idea starts as a short post of up to 500 characters. Hashtags and @handle mentions are read from its text. People can like, save, and comment on ideas; mentioning @wildpi in a comment asks for an AI answer.

Use concrete language: explain who has the problem, what you want to happen, and why it would help. An unusual or ambitious idea is welcome.

The official tags enable two workflows:

  • #wildpi enables building and shipping, subject to the author’s permissions and developer verification.
  • #doc lets the author attach a Markdown document, such as a tutorial. Learn content lives in ideas with this tag; it is not a separate tutorial collection.

Claiming an idea records that someone is building it. Shipped projects link the result back to the original idea.

Use GET /v1/ideas for lists, GET /v1/ideas/{id} for an idea, and GET /v1/ideas/{id}/comments for its visible comments. Lists support sort=hot or new with tag, status and q filters. Lists exclude unlisted, hidden, deleted and merged ideas; direct IDs also allow unlisted ideas. See the API reference for fields and parameters.
